Wallenberg Academy Fellows är en långsiktig satsning på unga forskare i Sverige. Syfter är att ge de främsta unga forskarna långsiktiga resurser, som innebär att de kan koncentrera sig på sin forskning samt bidra till en ökad internationalisering av den svenska forskningsmiljön. Programmet Wallenberg Academy Fellows Programmet är öppet för forskare inom samtliga vetenskapliga discipliner; medicin, teknik, naturvetenskap, samhällsvetenskap och humaniora/religionsvetenskap, liksom i gränssnitten däremellan. Forskare som nomineras ska ha erhållit doktorsexamen efter 1 januari 2012. Samtliga Wallenberg Academy Fellows deltar i ett mentorskapsprogram som syftar till att stärka dem i deras vetenskapliga ledarskap samt att ge dem kunskaper och erfarenheter för att bättre kunna nyttiggöra forskningsresultat. Tre förlängda Wallenberg Fellowships Axel Englund, Rachel Foster och Martin Ott vid Stockholms universitet beviljas femåriga förlängningsanslag som Wallenberg Academy Fellows.
